Hello & Welcome

Pushing yourself, trying something new and stepping outside of your comfort zone are the only ways to grow.

If you’re stuck doing the same thing you're not growing, you're not going anywhere, you're not stretching.

And in stretching, in stepping into a new version of yourself and trying something you've not done before, you ultimately become somebody that you've not been before.

It might not be comfortable and it probably won’t be easy, but remember that you've got to face discomfort to grow, putting yourself outside of your comfort zone to expand it.

Documenting your journey is a great way to start and then to see your progress. Gary Vaynerchuk always says “Document instead of create” and that’s the best and easiest thing you can do. Begin by showing your journey which many people will probably be able to relate to, and allow creation to unfold in this naturally evolving process. Remember that what you have to offer is valuable, don’t discard it just because someone has maybe done it before. Give it a crack and just see where it leads. Even if it doesn’t go anywhere we can guarantee you’ll have a blast doing it!

PODCAST TRANSCRIPTION: #001

Matthew

Hello, everyone. This is our new show. Foxes Collide. My name is Matthew.

Ellen

And I'm Ellen.

Matthew

And this show is going to be a conversational show. You and me, talking about life. What we’ve envisioned for ourselves and how we make and intend to make that real. Learning through the process, taking insights from mistakes and struggles, and also joyful lessons as well, so we can repeat them and fill our life with good things.

Ellen

Yeah, that's exactly right.

Matthew

So the show is something in that nature, it's evolving as well. We're exploring a lot of different, new things and this is just one of them. A Podcast show. We have some really good conversations and I find that we both learn from each other and ourselves when we talk. And I think it's a great way to get perspective and clarity, talking things out.

Ellen

Yeah, it is. And we always find, we always go off on tangents. And then we find other things that we start talking about, and some things come up that we didn't even realise when we first started the conversation. And that leads to new growth and further growth, it’s great. So we thought…

Matthew

Put a mic up.

Ellen

Put a microphone to us and let us go.

Matthew

Yeah, give it a go.

Ellen

Yeah just see how it unfolds, see how it travels.

Matthew

I think it's good to try something new and this is what we're doing here.

Ellen

Absolutely! Pushing ourselves.

Matthew

Absolutely pushing ourselves.

Ellen

Trying something new is the only way to see if something is right for you and the only way to grow is to try new things because if we're stuck doing the same thing we're not growing, we're not going anywhere.

Matthew

We're not stretching.

Ellen

Exactly. You’ve gotta stretch yourself. You’ve got to put yourself outside of your comfort zone in order to grow past that comfort zone. So that's kind of what we're doing right now and doing it together is also a big thing, it's big to do it individually but it's even bigger, I find, as a couple, as two different individuals.

Matthew

Yeah, different ideas and...

Ellen

...strengths and weaknesses and just different things that we’re interested in and different ways that we think about things and talk about things, which is beautiful.

Matthew

Yes it is, absolutely.

Ellen

I bring the feminine and you bring the masculine way, for me feeling and for you thinking and it brings a beautiful mesh of ideas and thoughts and tangents and everything.

Matthew

It's good. Yeah, very good. I think we'll stick with that, starting something new, the benefits of course; stretching yourself, ultimately stepping into a new version of yourself. That's what it takes, trying something you've not done before, to be somebody that you've not been before.

Ellen

Yeah being a different, better version of yourself and if it's not a better version, it's a version that you'll learn from. So you can always grow from there.

Matthew

Yeah, its that process and I guess what we're doing with it, is documenting.

Ellen

Yeah, documenting.

Matthew

I think that's, a really good process, and a really good idea to document when you make any sort of change in your life. It's as simple as taking pictures when you're getting into shape you're documenting that process. Therefore, you can see the progress you're making, because it's very easy to kind of forget your progress, to look at where you are now and it might not necessarily be exactly where you want to be and that's all you focus on, the fact that you're not where you want to be, instead of focusing on where you've come from. So if you document these things, you can look back in a few months, even a single month and realise, wow, what a big change.

Ellen

Look how far you've come.

Matthew

So this is a really cool way for us to do that. To be able to see our growth, document our process, and see us evolve and change. If we want to listen back and go, well, oh...

Ellen

Oh cringe haha.

Matthew

...look at those two people.

Ellen

Yeah, but that's also...I lost my train of thought.

Matthew

It's Okay. It's gonna happen.

Ellen

It happens quite a lot. So, yeah, that's what I was gonna say is that it's a great way to show others the journey, there's a lot of other people that have made it and a lot of people that talk about their journey and how they went from here to there, but they never showed the stumbling blocks, they never actually showed where they were at the beginning.

Matthew

They didn't document from start. They maybe didn't have the forethought to do so, but we're fortunate enough to, so we get to look at and catalog our progress and share with anyone who wants to hear.

Ellen

Exactly. So, yeah... that's us.

Matthew

That is us.

Ellen

And that's our first episode…
